I came across this list on Digg this morning; it's from a blog called Freelance Folder, which looks like a fantastic resource for those "independent" types who can't handle real jobs ;-) Despite the fact that I am not a freelancer, I do work in a sales office and deal with my share of pissed off customers, and I can tell you these are all very good suggestions.
